Data as a mirror of an institution

Data sometimes says more than long speeches. They enable us to understand an institution in all its many facets, from its missions and operations to its organization and achievements. EPFL reveals itself through its data and the figures that define it, revealing general statistics as well as sometimes unknown aspects. For EPFL, the transparency of its data is also a communication tool to reflect its identity, evolution and dynamism.

This site presents EPFL’s institutional data. You’ll find raw data on the School’s main indicators and be able to explore their evolution. You’ll also find thematic perspectives reflecting EPFL’s actions in key areas, as well as the impact of an academic institution on its environment and its role within society.

EPFL is part of the Swiss statistical system ‒ a network of approximately 40 federal offices and other institutions that are subject to the Federal Statistics Act.

Statistical data supports the political process by providing a foundation for informed public debate, policy and decision-making. The Federal Statistical Office plays a coordinating role at federal level as a centre of expertise and hub in Switzerland’s decentralised data ecosystem.
